Hawaiian filmgoers look forward to another film festival of fine Italian films. The 7th annual Cinema Italiano in Hawai'i opens Thursday September 23, 2010 at Kahala Consolidated Theatres with the screening of the Italian comedy Basilicata Coast to Coast. Eight films, multiple screenings September 23-26 (a complete listing of films, synopses, schedule follows).
Cinema Italiano uniquely presents film as a cultural bridge between Italian culture and Hawaii; provides scholarships to island film students; offers opportunities for film makers, actors and directors to visit school classrooms; incorporates social and culinary events as adjuncts to the festival. The 2010 Cinema Italiano in Hawaii is now a non-profit entity; all contributions are tax deductible, affiliated with the Pacific Arts Foundation. In addition to the excellent and award winning films presented in the comfortable Kahala Consolidated Theatre, two culinary events highlight the week, and the public is invited to attend.
